By his account, the chips and operating system at the core of Huawei's phones now come largely from Huawei and domestic suppliers, so a cutoff of U.S. technology would reach less of its device business. Yu said the modem, CPU, GPU and AI unit of the Kirin 9050 Pro, a processor in the new Mate 90 series, are all Huawei designs. The listing puts a Chinese developer's model in front of AWS customers on Amazon's own platform and turns their usage into revenue for Zhipu. Zhipu has set up similar arrangements with several other overseas cloud vendors and, at home, with Alibaba Cloud's Bailian platform. Huawei Cloud has listed GLM-5.3 and agreed in principle to similar terms. In September, Zhipu raised about $5 billion, earmarked for next-generation GLM models and for large-scale computing to train and run them. Logic folding stacks a chip's circuit layers and links them vertically, Huawei's way to gain performance without access to the most advanced manufacturing processes. By Qualcomm's account, the deal does not hand that technique to the U.S. chip designer. Qualcomm confirmed that the Huawei U.S. patents it is buying are noncellular, meaning outside mobile network technology, and said the deal's terms are confidential. Supply capacity is now the main limit on Ascend sales, Xu said, so the number of chips Huawei can get made sets how much AI training capacity it can deliver next year. Volume supply of Ascend 950DT supernodes, systems that link many chips to work as one computer, should begin in late 2026 or early 2027, he said. At that speed a car covers 10 meters in a fraction of a second, far less time than a driver needs to take control and brake. Every driver assistance system sold to consumers in China is rated Level 2 or below on the national scale, so the driver must supervise the car at all times, IT Home notes. Yicai counted at least 10 similar incidents in recent years, including one last year in which a car crashed seconds after handing back control. [IT Home](https://www.ithome.com/1/009/981.htm)
